Ever since I can remember I have wanted to fly. As happens with many people, life and finances delayed my journey quite a bit. On my birthday in August of 2015 when I was 39 I set a goal of becoming a Private Pilot before I turned 40. I took my discovery flight on August 13, 2015 at Genesis Aero in Georgetown, TX. On January 10th 2016 I flew solo for the first time (typically a big day in any aviators career). Unfortunately, shortly thereafter the weather turned quite miserable for sometime and my flight lessons slowed to a trickle. After a few other hurdles I finally completed my Private Checkride in February 2018 at the age of 41 (missing my goal by 6 months). In the summer of 2018, Together with 3 other friends I helped to form a flying club (Pilot Partner Flying Club) and we purchased our first airplane...a 1974 Beechcraft Sundowner. Since that time (as of this writing) I have put 300 hours on her. I am currently using the plane to build Instrument time and work through my ratings with the eventual goal of earning a Flight Instruction Certificate. Of course occasionally I like to break up the monotony of training with a fun trip or a formation flight with friends. I started this blog to record my personal journey and hopefully inspire future aviators to get their wings as well. One of the favorite things myself (and most other pilots for that matter) do is take up first time flyers. As of December 2022 I am approaching 500 Total Flight Hours.
